PUNK MUSIC IN THE LIME LIGHT

Rock Family Trees: Banshees and Other Creatures, SBS, 7.30pm: The scene spearheaded by the Sex Pistols is featured in tonight's episode of Rock Family Trees, looking at some of the early English punk bands with staying power: Public Image Ltd (P.I.L), Adam and the Ants, The Slits and Siouxsie and the Banshees.

Band members being interviewed tell of the huge interest in punk after the Sex Pistols hit the big-time, along with the history of their bands and career highlights.

Most punk bands cared more about energy than prowess, with Siouxsie and the Banshees' first gig being played before anybody knew how to work their instruments.

Perhaps the most charismatic interviewees are John Lydon (P.I.L and The Sex Pistols) and Siouxsie (Siouxsie and the Banshees), but the entire program will be interesting to any fan of punk or music history.

Our rating: For anybody with an interest in the subject.
